Marco Island is considered to have some of the best beaches in the world. It is the longest island of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands and is located in the Gulf of Mexico, in southwest Florida. South Marco Beach Access is a 67-car parking lot with access to restrooms. Explore the tidal lagoon that separates Tigertail Beach Park from the state-run Big Marco Pass critical wildlife area popularly known as the Sand Dollar Spit.
The lagoon is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including horseshoe crabs, garfish, Florida fighting shells and more. Marco Island has Tigertail (on the north end of the island) and South Beach (at, you guessed it, the south end) among its beautiful beaches ideal for the whole family. Here, miles of shell-encrusted shorelines and small white-capped waves gently burst onto the coast. Bird lovers and nature enthusiasts will revel in the flora and fauna of Tigertail, while beach lovers looking for a relaxing day at the beach will find it in South Beach, where life is easy and sunsets are legendary.
Sun lovers looking for an old-fashioned day at the beach will find paradise in South Beach. Let the gentle waters of the Gulf crash against your ankles or stretch out reading on the beach for a relaxing afternoon in the sun. Our two beachfront vacation condominiums, Apollo and Sea Winds, are located directly on South Beach, with non-public restrooms available in the resort's pool area.
A children's playground, sand volleyball court and picnic area with grills help organize the quintessential beach day with the family. Other essentials include concessions for beach equipment and refreshments, parking, showers, restrooms, and disability access. Many enjoy the lagoon area with nearby play areas and concessions. Others rent paddleboards to transport their belongings and youth across the shallow lagoon to the long stretch of quiet beach on Barrier Island, one of the best bombing beaches in southwest Florida.
South Beach is one of Marco Island's 2 main beaches. You may be walking waist-deep in the water, and you'll need to make sure you can carry all your beach gear with you. You'll probably find it easier to find parking at Marco Island Beach in Tigertail Beach compared to South Beach. As you stand on the beach overlooking the lagoon, you'll see Sand Dollar Island directly in front of you.
An observation tower, boardwalks, and boat ramps greet guests on this barrier island getaway, along with a natural hard bottom reef that offers great diving and fishing activities close to the beach. You'll want to think about that when considering what beach equipment you want to wear and how you want to wear it.
Bird lovers get ready as Tigertail Beach has been named one of the best birding spots in Florida.
